Eight travellers. One city. Endless possibilities. Follow a curious group of suitcase-carrying strangers as they explore Newcastle, transforming everyday moments into unexpected adventures filled with connection, curiosity and wonder.

About Kamchàtka

What happens when eight strangers arrive in a city they’ve never seen before?

Armed only with suitcases, curiosity and a sense of adventure, a group of wandering travellers set out to explore Newcastle. Their journey unfolds through chance encounters, shared experiences and unexpected moments that transform everyday streets into something extraordinary.

Funny, moving and wonderfully unpredictable, this playful outdoor performance invites all to see the city and each other through fresh eyes.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • A unique outdoor performance that unfolds through movement, interaction and unexpected encounters.
  • Follow a curious group of travellers as they explore the city and invite audiences into their journey.
  • Performance uses improvisation and responds to the people and places around.

11.15am performances (both days) start on Grey Street

GOOD TO KNOW

  • Performance duration: approximately 60 minutes.
  • Two performances take place each day.
  • Suitable for all ages.
  • The performance is non-verbal and performed entirely without spoken language.
  • Audience participation is encouraged, but you are welcome to simply watch and enjoy.
  • As the performance is improvised, no two performances are ever the same.
  • This is an outdoor event, and the performance moves through public spaces

The Creative Team

Kamchàtka creates contemporary street theatre, that transform ordinary streets into extraordinary encounters. Their unique wordless performances bring people together through curiosity, connection and shared experience.
