About
Introducing NOVUM 2024—a brand new multi-arts festival in the heart of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
As a brand-new festival experience, NOVUM first burst onto the scene in 2023. From August 11th to 13th, we transformed the Grade II* listed Civic Centre and its surroundings into a dynamic cultural playground, inviting audiences of all ages to immerse themselves in a world of art, music, dance, and innovation.
Developed through a collaborative partnership between Newcastle City Council, North of Tyne Combined Authority, UK Government, Levelling Up, Newcastle University, Northumbria University, Arts Council England, The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, Generator, Nexus, and Tyne & Wear Archives and Museums, NOVUM has quickly become a cornerstone of Newcastle's cultural landscape.
NOVUM 2024
Building on the success of our pilot festival in 2023, NOVUM is back for its second year, promising an even more extraordinary experience. With our festival site expanding to include events at the Great North Museum, there are now even more opportunities for engagement and exploration. From captivating performances to interactive installations, NOVUM 2024 will showcase the best of local, national, and international talent. Discover the full line-up here.
NOVUM 2023
Novum 2023 highlights included a monumental construction by renowned French artist Olivier Grossetête, a collaborative effort that engaged hundreds of volunteers in its creation and a series of live music performances in the Civic Centre from the likes of Mim Suleiman, Faithful Johannes and Hannabiell & Midnight Blue Collective.
Family-friendly activities and gaming experiences added an extra layer of excitement, ensuring that Novum truly is an event for everyone.
