FIZA

Saturday 10th August 2024
Council Chamber, Newcastle Civic Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8QH

Hailing from North West London, FIZA is currently residing in Edinburgh and has become a staple of the gig circuit of Scotland. She has sung in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, London, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. Her music fuses together intricate guitar, well-penned lyrics and vocals that are emotional, making her sound her own.

Her debut single ‘Pieces’ was named BBC Introducing Radio Scotland's track of the week, and was also featured on BBC Asian Network. The hosts Phoebe Inglis-Holmes and Shereen Cutty said some incredibly kind things such as, "sometimes you know straight away you're onto someone that is going to go so far" followed by "have you seen how many former BBC Introducing Acts are on this year's Mercury Prize Shortlist because FIZA gives me a gut feeling that maybe in a couple of years we might be seeing a similar ascent". She was recently a recipient of the Youth Music Next Gen Fund and will be using it to record and release her debut EP. More music to come this year, so stay tuned!
