CHOIRS CALLOUT - WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR CHOIR TO BE PART OF CIRQUE BIJOU’S PERFORMANCE?
Cirque Bijou creates theatrical shows on a grand scale. Their work has circus at its heart, while combining theatre, dance, live music, special effects, imaginative styling.
They love to involve local people in their stories with community participation and engagement being central to our shows. For Novum Newcastle in 2024, Cirque Bijou will bring their flying piano and an ensemble of circus artists with whom they will create several different spectacle moments over the festival.
This will include an aerial show with live music and singing. Musicians fly high above the aerial artists on the piano. This year Cirque Bijou are excited to work with local choirs to support this show, bringing a unique Newcastle voices to the performances.
Finally, they will also create a new Flying Piano Karaoke show where their pianist and singer while flying high above the audience will perform and encourage everyone to join in with classic songs and ballads. You and your family can join in creating joyous and uplifting mass singalong moments where, together we will create memories that will last a lifetime!
We are looking for choirs to provide a melodic backdrop to complement the breathtaking aerial displays by Cirque Bijou on 07 - 11 August 2024.
Requirements:
Choirs must be based in Newcastle or the surrounding areas
Available to rehearse on Wednesday 07 August at 6.30pm - 8.30pm
Availability for one show each day, as follows
Thursday 8th August, 6pm
Friday 9th August, 6pm
Saturday 10th August, 6pm
Sunday 11th August, 4pm
Willingness to collaborate with Cirque Bijou performers
Happy to work the with Cirque Bijou’s Music Director in the lead up to the performance

The aerial show is 15-20 mins long and is a mix of piano, singing, aerial and acrobatics (more detail available on request)
Choirs will be asked to to sing parts to these three songs during the aerial spectacular:
The Cirque Bijou Music Team will arrange the tracks as there will be a mix of live and recorded music.

We’re also keen for choirs to participate in Sing Along Performances - helping to engage the audience in a joyous sing-along experience alongside our talented performers at the following times:

This is a bit more relaxed - there won't be a rehearsal for this, and it doesn't matter if choirs can't commit to all of the performances - for this bit, the more the merrier!
