re: Cancellation of “The Flux” at the Novum Festival

Sadly, I have decided to cancel my performance of “The Flux” at Novum Festival on Saturday August 10th.
The timing means it coincides with a time when a demonstration is expected in Newcastle.
I am very aware of, and saddened by, the fear and anxiety felt by people of colour when there is increased potential for open racism and violence in the streets.
I am also aware of the sensory upset that unpredictable crowds can cause for some neurodivergent people.
My show reflects on the trauma caused to minorities across various intersections and I don’t want to encourage people to travel into situations that will add to that.
I would rather audiences were able to experience it in safer spaces at safer times and very much look forward to those.
At a time of feeling sickened and helpless at recent events, I’ve signed up to Hope Not Hate’s campaign here https://hopenothate.org.uk/ and would encourage everybody who feels the same to do so too.
