Before thousands of breeze blocks tumble through Newcastle city centre in Dominoes Newcastle, settle in for a very special screening hand-picked by Dominoes lead artist Julian Maynard Smith. Like Dominoes Newcastle, The Brutalist celebrates the beauty, ambition and poetry of concrete.
Winner of multiple international awards, The Brutalist follows visionary architect László Tóth as he arrives in America after the Second World War to rebuild his life, his career and reconnect with his family. When an unexpected commission changes everything, ambition, creativity and sacrifice collide in an unforgettable cinematic journey.
Epic in every sense, this powerful drama explores migration, identity, architecture and the pursuit of the American Dream through breathtaking performances and stunning cinematography.
This special screening has been programmed as part of NOVUM Summer Festival, offering audiences another way to experience the themes behind Dominoes Newcastle before witnessing thousands of concrete blocks cascade through the streets later that afternoon.
